ING New York Marathon 2012 Charity Run for The Heart Foundation Australia

Hi Everyone,
This week I am posting an extra blog in the bid to help out a good friend of mine who has decided to not only help himself but also his community by running the ING New York Marathon in November 2012 in an effort to raise $10,000 for The Heart Foundation of Australia. An inspirational effort, in my opinion running a marathon would be hard at the best of times but apparently the ING New York Marathon is one of the harder  ones in the world due to its hilly terrain. He also must be applauded in doing this for charity & raising money for such a worthy cause as the Heart Foundation; heart disease strikes down many Australians every year and any awareness in the aid of prevention is worth its weight in gold.  Please see Jason’s story below and follow the link to make a much needed donation your support will be much appreciated!
Thanks & have a fantastic week, Mel
Friends,
In less than 90 days from now I will be crossing the finish line of the ING New York Marathon. Although it will be a challenge for me to complete this race, I will be especially motivated by the excitement of knowing that it will benefit such a worthy cause, the Heart Foundation.
I need your help to hit my fundraising goal, please use this link to donate generously:http://www.gofundraise.com.au/page/jbdean
Any support and promotion amongst your business and personal contacts would be appreciated.
Well, despite many doubts and uncertainties, I can officially say I finished my first half marathon!
My form was neither fast nor pretty but I did make it across the finish line in one piece. I have to say, it was really tough to run the last 3 kilometers. That voice in my head tried to convince me to walk for a bit, but I managed to just keep trucking through to the finish. It’s a great feeling to have accomplished this goal!
Poor signage, concentration or my interpretation of the English language actually resulted in me running an extra 2 kilometers, but that’s another story.
I have decided to try and change my life for the better, raising the stakes and setting what is a daunting and frightful challenge, and in the process raise $10,000 for a worthy cause. The marathon runs through the streets of New York’s five boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The course challenges thousands of athletes every year and is a model for big-city marathon courses around the world.
I am asking you to consider sponsoring me for this event. I have two ambitious goals, first to complete the run without sustaining any bodily harm and second to meet my personal goal of raising $10,000 for the Heart Foundation. I would greatly appreciate your kind consideration by making a donation toward this goal. All donations are, of course, tax deductible and are for the Heart Foundation, I will be funding my own travel and accommodation expenses.
  • Every donation of $2 or more is tax deductible.
Thanks in anticipation for your support and I look forward to keeping you updated on my progress.
Jason
